Why the Age Is Hard to Confirm
- He has kept his private life out of interviews.
- No official biography from his label lists a date.
- Several sites copy each other, so one wrong claim spreads fast.
- The group name and his personal name are often mixed together.
The one point that repeats across trusted music databases is his career timeline. The band started in 1997, so his time in music now spans nearly thirty years.
Who Is Jose Darey Castro?
Jose Darey Castro is a Mexican singer, songwriter and accordionist. He leads Los Dareyes de la Sierra, a regional Mexican act from Navojoa, Sonora. Today the project is built around him, with supporting musicians changing over time.
He sings in Spanish, writes many of his own songs, and plays the accordion on stage. Since 2025 he has also been billed as simply Dareyes de la Sierra on several releases.

The Double P Records Era and Redención
The biggest shift came in 2025. He signed with Double P Records, the label led by Peso Pluma. His album Redención arrived on May 8, 2025 and opened in the top ten of the Top Regional Mexican Albums chart.
A deluxe edition followed on June 5, 2025, growing the project to 28 tracks. Songs from that period include Frecuencia, Vita Fer, Pasta, Supreme and Polvo de Hadas.
Why did this matter? It brought a veteran accordion player into the same space as the newest stars of música mexicana, without losing his old sound.
First US Tour
In mid 2025 the band announced its first ever US tour, called the Redención Tour. It covered about 20 cities. For a group active since the late 1990s, that was a late but major milestone.
Collaborations and Features
His recent work shows a clear pattern. He pairs his classic voice with younger names. Reported collaborators across Redención and nearby singles include:
- Peso Pluma
- Tito Double P
- Netón Vega
- Luis R Conriquez
- Gabito Ballesteros
- Alfredo Olivas
- Grupo Firme
- Santa Fe Klan
- Chino Pacas
- Oscar Maydon
Earlier team ups also include De 8 a 5 with El Fantasma. These pairings helped the band reach listeners who first discovered regional Mexican music through streaming and short video apps.
Musical Style and Influence
His sound blends Nortel, Sierras and corridor storytelling. The accordion leads, the guitar keeps the rhythm, and the lyrics talk about love, loyalty, loss and street life.

Jose Darey Castro Personal Life, Wife and Family
Here is what can be said safely:
- Marital status: not publicly confirmed.
- Wife or partner: no verified name from a reliable source.
- Children: not publicly confirmed.
- Parents and siblings: not publicly documented.
You may see a name attached to a “wife” on a few entertainment pages. Without a confirmation from him or a major outlet, it is better to leave that claim out. Respecting his privacy is also the fair way to cover any public figure.
Net Worth and Height: Are the Numbers Real?
Several pages quote a net worth between $1 million and $3 million. None show financial records, contracts or audited data, so the figures are guesses. His income likely comes from streaming royalties, touring, merchandise and publishing, but the real total is not public.
The same issue applies to height. Pages list about 5 feet 8 inches or 5 feet 9 inches, yet no official source backs either number.

How This Article Was Checked
To keep this page accurate, the facts were cross checked against music catalogs, label and streaming pages, and music news coverage of the album and tour. Claims that appeared on only one or two blog style pages were marked as unverified. Where sources disagreed, the table above shows the conflict instead of picking a winner.
The article will be easy to update if he confirms his birth date later.
Final Thoughts
The Jose Dare Castro age question has no official answer yet. The most repeated claims are 46 and 39, but both lack solid proof. What is certain is his place in musical Mexican: nearly three decades of music, a respected catalogue, a big 2025 comeback with Credence, and a first US tour that introduced him to a new crowd.
